Jack Huston cast as the lead in remake of ‘The Crow’

When I was 11 years old a random pickup at the movie rental store led me to my first viewing of The Crow.  It should be noted that not only was this movie too violent and dark for an 11 year old it really was out of place for an 11 year old watching it with his grandma.  After 30 minutes or so I was instructed to turn it off because it was “too nasty”.  It wouldn’t be until years later that I learned this was Brandon Lee‘s last movie.  He was fatally shot and killed on set from an improperly configured gun with blanks.

Today it was announced that Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) has been cast as the lead in the remake of this cult classic movie.

I’m personally mixed on this one.  Jack Huston was fantastic as Richard Harrow on Boardwalk and I will see anything that guy does.  On the other hand I think The Crow is one of those franchises that we need to let live in our hearts and not added to the giant pile of recycled intellectual properties that we see every year.

This new film is written by Cliff Dorfman and directed by Corin Hardy and should start filming in the next few months.
