On Filmageddon Episode 7 we are joined by Jacob Garcia from the Austin Sessions podcast!  This time around we talk about Furious 7 and the Fast And The Furious franchise as a whole.  We discuss which movies in the series we like and the ones we didn’t.  We talk about the death of Paul Walker and how we think it will affect the movies going forward.

On the theme of Furious 7 we talk about 3 “road movies.”

The first movie we talk about is Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.  This movies stars Johnny Depp, Benecio Del Toro, and many more.  It was released in 1998, is written by Hunter S. Thompson, and directed by Terry Gilliam.

The second movie we talk about is Badlands.  Badlands was released in 1973.  It was written and directed by Terrence Malick.  It stars Martin Sheen, Sissy Spacek, and Warren Oates.

The last movie we talk about is Y Tu Mamá También.  This movie was written and directed by Alfonso Cuaron and stars Ana Lopez Mercado, Diego Luna, and Gael Garcia Bernal.

We open up the show and talk with Jacob about how he came to love movies.  He talks about attending different rep screenings throughout his life, working at video stores, and the films that really impacted him growing up.

Cole reports back on some of the movies he saw and what he recommends from #SXSW this year including Ex Machina, Trainwreck, 7 Chinese Brothers, and more.

Jacob talks about Duke Mitchell and in particular we discuss Massacre Mafia Style and Gone With The Pope.

We talk about an article from Film School Rejects written by Scott Beggs and discuss the recent decision of movie theaters to ban the movie Beasts Of No Nation due to its distribution and same day release from Netflix.

Jacob talks about Jimmy Kimmel visiting Vulcan Video for South By Southwest and about how Vulcan is much more than a place to work for him.  It’s a family.

Jacob talks about his upcoming Tony Scott article and we discuss Tony’s career and different films he’s created.

We end the podcast playing “Thumbs Up Thumbs Down” where Jacob and Cole have to decide whether Siskel and Ebert gave a particular movie a thumbs up or a thumbs down.  The movies we play with are The Big Lebowski, The Evil Dead, Batman, The Crow, and Mrs. Doubtfire.

During his coverage of #SXSW Cole had a chance to sit down and speak with Robert Duvall about his upcoming movie Wild Horses, Jiu Jitsu, and some of his experiences working in the film industry.  Robert’s wife Luciana Pedraza was also in attendance as well.  Wild Horses was written, directed, and features Robert Duvall alongside actors James Franco and Josh Hartnett.

During his coverage at #SXSW Cole had a chance to sit and talk with Adrien Brody and Kevin Ford about their new documentary Stone Barn Castle.  Stone Barn Castle is the name of a historic building in Central New York that Brody purchased for himself in 2007.  He has spent the past 7+ years renovating and documenting this process with Ford’s help.  Stone Barn Castle premieres at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival.

On this episode of Filmageddon we are honored to be able to talk to artist Jim Ferguson about his career drawing movie scenes and traveling the country selling art at different Comic-Con events.  Jim talks about how he transitioned from his job at NASA to a full time artist as well as what it’s like to be on the road all of the time for his career.
